Peapod truck allegedly stolen during South End deliveries leads to arrest

Police said they followed the delivery truck until it stopped in a driveway where officers placed the operator, Wilfredo Burgos, 40, under arrest.

A Peapod grocery delivery driver was making their rounds Sunday morning in Boston’s South End when a man hopped into the delivery truck and took off in an unknown direction, police said in a news release

Officers reportedly responded to a call for the stolen vehicle around 7:45 a.m. near 10 E. Springfield Street, where police said they spoke with the victim to gather a description of the suspect and information about the delivery truck.

Just hours later, detectives said they spotted the vehicle traveling along School Street in Jamaica Plain.

Police said they followed the delivery truck until it stopped in a driveway at 12 School Street where officers placed the operator, 40-year-old Hyde Park resident Wilfredo Burgos, under arrest.

Burgos is now expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for larceny of a motor vehicle.
