Man arrested in connection with Boston Public Garden sexual assault

The assault occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, according to police.

Boston police have arrested a Chelsea man in connection with a sexual assault that occurred within the Public Garden on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Francisco Romero, 38, is being charged with aggravated rape, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping, police said in a press release. Romero was found around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday near 31 Library St. in Chelsea.

The assault happened around 2:03 a.m. that Sunday, according to police. The suspect allegedly encountered the victim on Bromfield Street, forced her through Boston Common, and then assaulted her within the Public Garden. Since then, police had released a video and a couple photos seeking the public’s help in finding the suspect.
