Stoughton police investigating shooting of teenager, warn residents to ‘be aware of your surroundings’

"If you see something out of place or hear something in your yard please call 911 immediately."

Stoughton police are asking residents to be on alert after a search for two shooting suspects was called off.

On Thursday night around 8:45 p.m., officers responded to Sumner Street where a teenager was shot. Nearby residents were initially asked to shelter in place while police searched the neighborhood for the suspects.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m., authorities announced that the active search was called off, but officers would continue to follow up on tips.

Police are asking anyone who sees something out of place or hears something in their yard to call 911.
