Somerville ride-share driver arrested for alleged sexual assault in Brighton

Sonpreet Singh, 25, turned himself into police, officials said.

A Somerville man surrendered himself to police on Sunday after authorities alleged he sexually assaulted a person while working as a ride-share driver in Brighton, according to police.

Sonpreet Singh, 25, turned himself in at the District 14 station in Brighton, Boston police said in a statement Tuesday. Singh was arrested on a warrant for indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

According to authorities, a victim entered the police station on April 14 to report she was “indecently assaulted by a ride share driver.”

“Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit conducted an investigation and were able to identify the driver and obtain a warrant for him,” police said.

Singh was slated to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.
