Somerville man, 19, charged with murder in connection with shooting outside Malden 7-Eleven

Daquelle Matthews, 22, of Boston, was found with multiple gunshot wounds outside the business on Nov. 20.

A 19-year-old Somerville man has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a Boston man outside a Malden 7-Eleven last month.

Authorities said Antonio Rufo-Sanon was arrested without incident on Monday for the Nov. 20 homicide. He is set to be arraigned in Malden District Court on Monday, according to a statement from the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Malden police were called around 9:40 p.m. on Nov. 20 to the 7-Eleven on Salem Street for a report of shots fired, according to the DA’s office. There, they found Daquelle Matthews, 22, with multiple gunshot wounds. Matthews was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that Rufo-Sanon was a passenger in a vehicle with other individuals that arrived at the 7-Eleven, officials said.

“Based on a review of surveillance video, the victim was standing outside the store when he communicated with the men in the car,” the DA’s office said in a statement. “Antonio Rufo-Sanon then allegedly fired a gun from the vehicle fatally shooting him. After the shooting, the men allegedly fled the scene in that vehicle.”

By reviewing the surveillance footage, authorities were able to identify the suspect vehicle and found it at a Somerville home, officials said. In the ensuing days, investigators were able to identify the driver and used forensic analysis to identify Rufo-Sanon.

The driver of the vehicle, Isaiah Sautier, has also been arrested. He was charged with accessory after the fact to murder and accessory after the fact to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the DA’s office said. He was arraigned in Malden District Court on Dec. 2.
