A 31-year-old man was shot and killed Monday around 10:30 a.m. on Thornton Street in Revere, according to officials.
Revere police tweeted about the incident this afternoon, asking the public to avoid the area. Police said they believe the shooting to be an isolated incident.
REVEREPD ADVISORY: Police presence in the area of Thornton St. Investigation underway into the shooting of a 31 one year old male this morning. Please avoid the area. We believe this to be an isolated incident.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Offices echoed that sentiment in a tweet, saying that there appeared to be “no ongoing threat to public safety.”
“We will release more information when appropriate,” according to the statement.
SCDAO, with MA State Police and the Revere Police Dept., is investigating the shooting death of a 31 year old male this morning. The investigation is active & ongoing. Initial info indicates no ongoing threat to public safety. We will release more information when appropriate.

According to The Boston Globe, one of the first residents on the scene was a nursing student named Kezia Pereira. She ran out in her pajamas to offer first aid, the paper said.
“I did the best I could,” she told the Globe.
The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing, according to the district attorney’s office.
