Dunkin’ embraces 2016 food trends with new avocado toast, cold brew, and matcha offerings
Pumpkin spice is so last decade.

Dunkin’s newest offering is capitalizing on the hottest brunch trend… of 2016: Avocado toast, perhaps the most adored and most maligned foodstuff of the previous decade.

The restaurant chain announced Wednesday that the menu item — toasted sourdough bread topped with avocado spread and everything bagel seasoning — will be on its spring menu at all locations nationwide. Dunkin’ says the spread is made of just avocado, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Fortunately, such a resplendent and indulgent meal shouldn’t deny millennials their dreams of home-ownership: It’s only $2.99, and it even comes in a “special portable box.”
In other mid-2010s foodie news, Dunkin’ is also expanding its matcha and cold brew options. The spring menu will include a matcha-topped donut, a blueberry matcha latte, and chocolate stout cold brew which can be topped with new sweet cold foam.
The chain is also introducing new grilled cheese melts, with or without ham, if you’re looking for something a little less buzzy.
Now that Dunkin’ has mined the archives of old food trends, maybe they’ll bring back their definitely-not-a-cronut or the definitely-not-a-“Unicorn”-drink?
