The New England Clean Energy Council honored the companies and people last night who help make the region a clean tech leader, with Vermont governor Peter Shumlin keynoting the trade association’s fifth annual Green Tie Gala, held at the InterContinental in downtown Boston.
In his talk, Shumlin said his state had suffered four climate change-induced catastrophes during his first two-year term, and that it was imperative his fellow governors provide leadership in renewable and clean energy.
Shumlin set a target goal of his state using 90 percent renewable energy by 2050.
Among the night’s honorees:
— Breakout Company of the Year: Harvest Power
— Best Employer: EnerNOC
— Emerging Companies of the Year: Ocean Renewable Power Company and Joule Unlimited
— Council Leadership Award: Hemant Taneja, managing director at General Catalyst
In addition, Sue Tierney was inducted into the NECEC Hall of Fame.
