Cambridge scientists say they’ve created an allergen free dessert

Scientists at a Cambridge lab just introduced a new dessert, Incredible Perfectly Free Non-Dairy Frozen Bites, that is free from dairy, gluten, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, egg, peanut, almond, and cashew, according to the product’s site.

The FDA believes these “Big Eight’’ food groups cause 90 percent of serious allergic reactions in the United States.

The product, by Incredible Innovations, substitutes dairy and nut milks with coconut cream—an alternative most people allergic to tree nuts can safely eat, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.

Each serving is 35 calories or less, and they come in flavors like blueberry and vanilla, and salted caramel and vanilla.

The company is currently test marketing the bites at 62 stores in the Boston area, according to WCVB.
