Nomination Letters – Boston Children’s Hospital

Julie Johnston Hart

Julie Johnston Hart is a first class nurse with an extraordinary blend of smarts, strength, calm, and a heart of gold. She’s cared many times for my daughter during her frequent admissions to Children’s, including just last month. Often the charge nurse, Julie embodies fairness, a quiet confidence, and a tireless willingness to help out in any situation, be it a complicated medical issue or a gentle shoulder on which a worried and weary mom can lean. We trust, thank, adore, and salute our Julie.

Leah Hecht

Our son has a rare metabolic disorder. We have so many questions, and while there are often no answers, Leah Hecht is always a phone call or email away. She treats our family with kindness and compassion. She spends a great deal of time explaining (and re-explaining) things, such as medication dosages and lab results. She is respectful of our thoughts and opinions, she is a wonderful listener, and she is supportive when we are nervous and worried. Leah does not minimize our concerns. This past year Leah has been our rock, and without her, we could not navigate through this difficult journey.

Leanne Corsino

When my 7-month-old daughter was admitted to Children’s Hospital, I was devastated. We were so blessed to have Leanne as our nurse for three whole days. She not only tended to my daughter, but she tended to me as well. Leanne was so compassionate and understanding and was able to understand that being in the hospital just plain stinks. Leanne was an amazing advocate for us with the doctors.
