Leah Kamau is a residential nurse for Bridgewell, a private, non-profit human services organization that has been providing support to individuals with developmental and psychiatric disabilities for more than 55 years. Leah participates in the clinical management and care of many men and women with developmental disabilities. Every day, Leah supports the highest quality of life for those she works with. She understands not only the unique needs of each individual, but also the logistical challenges of community-based care for a medically intensive population. In order to master the skills necessary to support our residents, staff depends on Leah’s training sessions, which she tailors to suit each learner’s needs. She guides those she works with through difficult passages during each stage of life with grace and compassion. Leah’s influence is essential to maintaining high standards within a family atmosphere. She is a leader in every sense of the term, and it is our honor to salute her.
