Joe “Doc’’ Watson is a different kind of nurse, more a medical technician, whom I run into nearly every Wednesday when I go to Emerson Hospital in Concord to sing to the patients there. Every year, Joe puts together (at his own expense) a lovely CD with all kinds of Christmas songs from all kinds of artists. He hands this CD out freely to friends and associates at the hospital. It’s just something Joe does to help us all appreciate and celebrate the holidays. It’s a nice touch and one we all appreciate and treasure during the season and beyond.

While our aunt was on Wheeler 5 at Emerson Hospital, Judy Daly showed the utmost compassion to all of us by coming into the room and explaining what was going on medically. She took her time and actually cared. Her ability to communicate to us on “our medical level’’ helped us to better care for our aunt. Judy Daly deserves recognition for her ability to be human in a very complex universe.
