Nomination Letters – Tufts Medical Center

Erin T. Murphy

I am marrying my nurse on May 11, 2013. After graduating from nursing school in May 2011, Erin could not find a job in Boston because she was a new grad. She had to move to Connecticut for a job at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is finally coming home to a job at Tufts. I’m nominating Erin not only she will be my wife, but because her persistence in reaching her goals inspires me and should inspire others. She should be a beacon of hope to all new grads.

Kathleen Ford

Kathleen Ford is in charge of the Coumadin clinic at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She sees many patients each day in an open clinic as part of the General Medical Associates Department of the hospital. Kathleen greets each patient by name; her memory is incredible. She always asks me about current problems while she performs the blood tests. Interested in my general health, she reminds me to have a flu shot. If I appear to have a problem, she sends me to the apporpriate person to solve it. If I should have a test completed at my local hospital, she calls me with faxed results within hours to discuss doses. If I miss a test, she calls me. She is always on top of my schedule. Kathleen has cared for me for several years, and I have never met a more devoted caregiver.

Mary Beth Singer

I am a two-time cancer survivor being treated at Tufts Medical Center. Since my last chemo treatment, I have experienced numerous medical problems. On average, I have had to call my nurse two to four times a month for the last three years. My nurse, Mary Beth Singer, always returns my calls in a timely manner. She shows compassion, listens at all times, and always has something positive to say. I am not sure where I would be if it were not for Mary Beth. Many days, I felt like throwing in the proverbial towel but didn’t because of her. I have never met anyone as compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, and kind. Nobody deserves to be honored more than Mary Beth for her work with cancer patients.
