Maureen Grafton, Regina Hale, Dauren Nowell, and Karin Narkun
All four of these wonderful nurses are caring, professional, intelligent woman whose work on the medical psychiatric unit for geriatric patients is worthy of this nomination. I witnessed their expertise in the field of nursing for many years. Maureen Grafton and I worked side by side and her compassion for her patients was evident by how she interacted therapeutically, allowing time for the elderly person to verbalize their needs, and responding with a compassionate, calm answer. Maureen is also involved outside her job in organizations such as the walk for breast cancer. Maureen also has close friends she supports through personal issues, and these are the qualities I admire in her as a nurse. I have watched her care for patients at the end of their lives, listening to families, advocating for them, and comforting them as well. I salute them all.
