Focus on parking, safety at high school project

Planners are putting student safety first and discussing parking protocol at the new Dracut High School, a $60 million project that begins this month. CTA Construction of Waltham is
set up on the site, and School Committee chairman Michael McNamara said workers will undergo police background checks in order to be cleared to be on the school grounds. Parking capacity is a consideration for Phase 2 of the project, which begins in fall 2013. McNamara said parking spaces may be issued on a staggered basis to accommodate student and staff vehicles. Dracut voters approved funding for the new high school last year; it is slated to be completed in the fall of 2014.
