Residents can play bocce on Saturday while also helping preserve a piece of Revere’s history. The Rumney Marsh Burial Ground Restoration Committee is holding its third annual bocce tournament fund-raiser next Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Revere Beach, across from the State Police barracks. Proceeds will support the committee’s efforts to restore the city-owned burial ground on Butler Street, where the earliest graves date to the 17th century. The cemetery, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, contains the graves of some of Revere’s earliest residents as well as soldiers from the Revolutionary and Civil wars. The registration fee for the tournament is $50 per person or $200 per team. To register or for more information, call the city’s veterans’ service office, at 781-286-8119 or go to www.RMBGRC.org.
