State transportation bill helps town

The town will benefit from the state transportation bill recently signed by the governor, according to Town Administrator Michael McCue. McCue said the bill includes three Avon projects: $500,000 for signals on East Main Street and East and West Spring streets; $250,000 for Goeres Square; and $500,000 for road improvements in the industrial park. “These are areas that we do not have the resources to address,’’ said selectmen chairman Frank Hegarty. “We appreciate our legislators’ efforts on our behalf.’’
