Bridgewater State Civil Air Patrol Squadron charter OK’d

The Civil Air Patrol has approved a charter for its newest senior squadron, located at Bridgewater State University and the only college-affiliated Civil Air Patrol squadron in New England. The Civil Air Patrol was founded in 1941 as the volunteer civilian auxiliary of the Air Force. Its squadrons serve their communities, state, region, and nation, supplying emergency services, aerospace education, and cadet programs. The university’s senior squadron will provide those benefits, as well as aviation personnel and equipment to support search and rescue and disaster relief efforts. Associate professor Robert McManus will serve as squadron commander, with the university’s aviation instructor, Loren Herren, as deputy commander.
