Caryl House reopening celebration Sept. 30

The historic Caryl House will celebrate its reopening next Sunday, after being closed since the spring while stabilization and preservation work was done on the Dedham Road property built in 1777. The program of events runs from noon to 4 p.m., and features a mix of historical demonstrations including a portrayal of Dr. John Hart, who practiced in the late 18th century. A representative from the American Textile History Museum in Lowell will also lead activities, and children can see a cider press, try their hand at weaving, and play with toys from the Colonial period. Captain Marden’s Cod Squad, a food truck from the Wellesley fish market and restaurant, will be serving a variety of seafood, or bring a picnic lunch.
