Hazardous waste collection day set for Oct. 6

The Salem Board of Health is holding a hazardous waste collection day Saturday
at Salem High School, 77 Wilson St., for residents of Salem and Beverly. From 8 a.m. to noon, residents of the two cities can drop off items such as motor oil, computer equipment, televisions, chemicals, pesticides, car batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, propane cylinders, tires, and oil-based paints. Items not accepted include latex paint, fire extinguishers, yard waste, and explosives. The cost is $20 per car, and an additional $10 for each television and computer monitor. Those dropping off only televisions or monitors will be charged just the $10 fee. Proof of Salem or Beverly residency is required.
