Board of Aldermen buys three West Hollis Street lots

The Board of Aldermen has decided to purchase three adjoining lots on West Hollis Street. The move follows three months of discussion of the purchase, which Mayor Donnalee Louzeau advocated as a way to provide a suitable site for a combined DPW garage and offices. The aldermen balked at earmarking the property for any particular use, but approved the purchase for $650,000, with $150,000 coming from the city’s contingency fund and $500,000 to be withdrawn from funds set aside for the purchase of Pennichuck Water Works.
