City looks to fund Greater Lowell Tech renovations

At Town Meeting on Oct. 16, Tyngsborough residents will be asked to approve a plan to fund part of a large renovation project at Greater Lowell Technical High School. Tyngsborough would need to borrow just over $1.3 million for the project, which is expected to cost $65.3 million. School officials are estimating that the Massachusetts School Building Authority will reimburse approximately $50 million of the total, with the four member communities of Lowell, Dracut, Tyngsborough, and Dunstable sharing the remainder of the cost. Planned renovations include a new roof, replacement of the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, upgrades to all science laboratories, and the addition of a new cafeteria.
