Working it out

Construction has begun on a $1.5 million state-funded downtown improvement project. The infrastructure work includes paving, new sidewalks, drainage systems, and new lighting at four stone-arch overpasses. Catch basins will be replaced at the overpasses to eliminate flooding. The state grant that funds the work does not require a city contribution, according to the office of Mayor Linda M. Balzotti. Police will post detours as they occur. For more information, call the mayor’s 0ffice at 508-580-7123.
