A State Police spokesperson confirmed the department provided canine units in the area to assist in an on-going investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s office. He referred further questions to their office, though messages left seeking comment were not immediately returned Sunday night.

The bridge is about a block from the Sycamore Street home where two men were arrested last January for allegedly beating their roommate to death and dismembering his body, the Globe reports.

The victim, 66-year-old Vincent Lalli, was reportedly found near Dr. Philip O. Coakley Middle School on Washington Street in Norwood.

It is not clear if the search is related to that incident.
