Firefighters responded at 4:23 p.m., finding heavy fire in the rear of the building, on the third- and fourth-floor rear porches, fire officials said. The building is a three-story brick apartment with four stories in the back.

The fire was extinguished by shortly before 5 p.m. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury. One resident suffered a burn injury, the fire department said in an official tweet.
