A reporter for the Providence Journal said he was threatened with arrest as he tried to cover a collapse at the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus performance in the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Sunday.
From the Journal:
Journal reporter Paul Parker who was in the lobby of the Dunkin' Donuts Center, a public building, to report the story said he was ordered to leave shortly after noon by a security guard who threatened to have him arrested if he did not comply.
Later Sunday, Dunkin’ Donuts Center General manager Lawrence Lepore told the Journal the security gruard was wrong to stop the reporter.
At least nine performers were injured Sunday when a support structure failed, sending eight women crashing to the floor. The performers fell between 25 and 40 feet while attempting “the Human Chandelier,’’ where eight women are suspended from their hair during the act.
