Andover Teacher Accused of Sexually Assaulting New Hampshire Teen

An Andover public school teacher was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a new Hampshire child, according to several news outlets.

Stratham, N.H. police told CBS Boston that Darrell Keene, 40, of Haverhill, was arrested in Andover on Monday. He’s being held without bail until a June 19 court appearance, according to CBS Boston.

Keene is a teacher at West Middle School in Andover. According to the Andover Townsman, School Superintendent Marinel McGrath emailed a statement to West parents Tuesday morning.

From the Townsman:

In the email, McGrath wrote:
"I am writing to tell you that yesterday afternoon, at approximately 3:40 pm, after school had ended, a West Middle School employee was arrested by police on school property based on a warrant issued in New Hampshire on allegations involving a child. The employee was immediately placed on administrative leave."

McGrath stressed that no Andover students were involved in the allegations, and that the school system is cooperating with the Stratham Police Department during the investigation, wrote the Statesman.

In a statement reported by Seacoast Online, Stratham Police said the initial contact between Keene and the juvenile occurred on the internet.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Stratham police say that based on a complaint they recently "began an investigation into an incident where it is alleged that a local New Hampshire juvenile was contacted by an adult over the Internet. Subsequent to that contact, it is alleged that the adult perpetrated a sexual assault against the juvenile in New Hampshire."
