Boston Police said they have a suspect in custody after the shooting death of a man in Dorchester Wednesday afternoon.
The man, who was shot in the throat on Dudley Street near Wendover Street around 1:25 p.m., was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, NECN reports.
Police announced the arrest just before 10:30 p.m. that same day, though authorities have not yet released the name of the suspect or victim.
The Boston Globe reports:
The murder was the city's 23d killing of the year, compared to 16 at this time last year, police said. Police told about 20 neighborhood residents during a community meeting on Wednesday night that officers would increase patrols in the Wendover Street area, including more frequent visits from the bicycle unit and walking beats. The meeting was held at the office of the Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corp. in Dorchester.
