Reporter Michele McPhee reports that Khairullozhon Matanov — recently charged with lying to investigators — dined with accused bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at Man-O-Salwa Kabob & Grill located on Summer Street in Somerville.
According to reports, the Tsarnaev brothers ate at a Somerville restaurant only 40 minutes after the Boston Marathon bombings.
The restaurant was closed at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, though its website indicates a 10 p.m. regular closing time.
A call to the restaurant was not answered.
In a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, McPhee wrote:
On the day of the marathon, according to an indictment, Matanov texted Tamerlan and asked to take him to dinner. Tamerlan accepted, brought Dzhokhar, and the three ate at Man O Salwa Kabob Grill in Somerville, which is a small storefront eatery less than a mile from the Tsarnaevs' Cambridge apartment, Matanov's lawyer said.
The Boston Globe reports that prosecutors said Matanov called Tamerlan Tsarnaev “other times’’ in the days after the bombing, and went to his Cambridge home.
He also allegedly made other calls to the younger brother that were not picked up, including a call on the morning of the Watertown manhunt.
