Injuries Reported in 3-Alarm Fire Overnight in Cape Cod

Fire crews responded to a three alarm fire in Cape Cod overnight as heavy flames and smoke billowed out of an apartment building in Dennis.

The fire was first reported at 2:30 a.m. and WBZ-TV reported that when fire officials arrived, they saw residents jumping from second story windows in order to escape the blaze.

Firefighters have since extinguished the flames, but there were multiple reports of ambulances being requested to the scene at 66 Center St. and the Associated Press reported that at least eight people had been hospitalized, including two police officers.

The WBZ-TV report said that, in all, three first responders and five residents were being treated for injuries. A report from WCVB added that one resident’s injuries were considered life-threatening.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
