Franklin Line Service Restored After Truck Hits MBTA Overpass

The MBTA has restored Franklin Line commuter rail trains but says to expect delays after a truck carrying boxes full of lobsters crashed into an overpass along that track in Westwood.

CBS Boston reported that the truck hit the overpass on East Street in Westwood at approximately 5 a.m. and burst into flames after a fire started in the air-conditioner compressor. Dozens of boxes from the truck were quickly unloaded and were eventually found to be full of lobsters.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames, but according to the report crews are still working to clear the scene as inspectors examine the integrity of the bridge. A WCVB report said that this was the second consecutive day a truck hit this same overpass.

The CBS Boston report added that there were no injuries reported in the incident.
