A man was taken to Boston Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation after a stand-off with police in a South End apartment building Wednesday.
Authorities negotiated for hours with the barricaded man, who was armed with a knife and may have stopped taking psychiatric medication, spokesperson David Estrada said.
Ultimately, a SWAT team entered the home and apprehended the man. One officer sustained non-life threatening injuries.
It is not clear if the man, whose identity has not been released, will face any charges related to the incident.
Police closed off Wellington Street at Columbus Avenue and barred residents from entering the building at 33 Wellington St. for several hours Wednesday.
