$3M Connecticut Mansion Destroyed in Massive 3-Alarm Fire

A 10,700-square-foot, $3 million home in Middlebury, Connecticut went up in flames on Thursday evening, and firefighters from several towns in the area were forced to lend assistance.

According to The Hartford Courant, the fire was first reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. But problems arose quickly and the fire went to three alarms because that area of Middlebury does not have any water mains. By the time the fire was dwindling, about two dozen water tankers had been brought in to help the effort, the report said.

The report added that everyone in the home, including the family’s pets, were able to escape safely. The residents were also able to move their cars out of the garage before the fire damaged them.
