Connecticut Man Arrested for Stabbing Watermelon in ‘Passive-Aggressive Manner’

A 49-year-old Connecticut man faces “threatening charges’’ after a woman told police he allegedly stabbed a watermelon with a butcher knife in a “passive-aggressive manner.’’

According to The Register Citizen, after gashing the fruit, Carmine Cervellino left it sitting in the kitchen for the woman to see. She perceived this to be a “menacing gesture directed at her,’’ and reported the incident to police.

The woman first approached police July 4 after she reported finding a plastic bag with marijuana and a pill container with her name on it in Cervellino’s toolbox.

The Register Citizen reports:

She snatched them up, took pictures with a cell phone camera and stowed them away in her room. Later, when the woman returned home, she found the drugs missing, she claims, but she showed police the photos.

It was this incident that caused the woman to believe Cervellino was “angry’’ with her, police told The Citizen.

Cervellino, of Thomaston, was arraigned on charges of second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct, according to The Citizen, and posted bond at $500.
