New Details in Worcester Kidnapping and Rescue

A Worcester man pushed into his baby’s mother’s home, pistol-whipped a family member inside and then kidnapped the mother and child, according to Worcester Police.

According to a police statement posted Sunday night, Jesus Rodriguez, 22, of Worcester, forced the mother, 19, and their infant, 11 months old, into a waiting livery car outside.

Police quickly contacted livery cab businesses and discovered that the vehicle that Mr. Rodriguez hired was heading towards the city of Springfield. Worcester Police contacted all surrounding towns and the Massachusetts State Police with the direction that the 2007 Lincoln Towncar was traveling.

According to a Massachusetts State Police

statement, a trooper in Palmer heading east on the Mass Pike spotted the car in the westbound lanes about 20 minutes later. He and several other state troopers pulled the car over in Ludlow and arrested Rodriguez . A handgun was found in the car, according to police.


The mother and child were unharmed, according to the statement.

Rodriguez was charged with Home Invasion, 2 counts of Kidnapping, Possession of a Firearm without an FID card, Possession of Ammunition with an FID Card, Child Endangerment, Violation of a Restraining Order, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (gun), and Threatening to Commit a Crime (murder), according to Worcester Police.
