Reward Offered For Information on Auburn Cemetery Vandalism

The Worcester Hebrew Cemetery Commission is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for breaking several headstones last weekend.

According to WCVB, the cemetery suffered $15,000 in damages after 19 headstones were knocked over. This is the second time the cemetery had been vandalized in six weeks.

“It’s hurtful, anger,’’ Lewis Lasky told WBZ. His parents’ headstones were among those damaged.

Police chief Andrew Sluckis told the Worcester Telegram-Gazette that police have recovered “physical evidence’’ related to the crime.

Anyone with information should call Detective Vincent Ross or Officer Jonathan O’Brien at (508) 832-7777.

Update, 4:28 p.m.: The Anti-Defamation League is offering an additional $500 to the reward, bringing the total to $1,000. “We hope the reward will encourage whoever has information about what happened to immediately share it with the police,’’ ADL regional director Robert Trestan said.
