A Melrose man was charged today with impersonating an FBI agent — or was that a CIA agent? Gjerji Pelushi allegedly tried both when bragging about his professed role at the 2014 Boston Marathon.
Pelushi was charged in federal court Friday, August 1, with two counts of impersonating a federal agent. He faces up to three years in prison.
WCVB reports that an affidavit shows Pelushi allegedly told people he patrolled the 2014 Boston Marathon working under “the Director,’’ who gave him full permission to shoot people in the head if they ignored police commands and reached for a bag.
Pelushi reportedly didn’t just talk a big game. Prosecutors said the FBI interviewed two victims from Albania who claim Pelushi charged them thousands of dollars to “help them obtain a job in law enforcement or assist them in getting a court case dismissed.’’ Looks like his promises were just as fictitious as his badge.
