Nominee for Mass. Judgeship Has Confirmation Delayed Due to Heavy Opposition

Joshua Wall, who Governor Deval Patrick nominated for a Superior Court judgeship, will have to wait at least another month before being confirmed after a confirmation panel has been “flooded’’ with complaints, The Boston Globe reports.

According to the report, the month will allow all relevant witnesses to provide testimony and will give the public more time to express their opinion.

Defense lawyers have flooded the Governor’s Council, an obscure eight-member panel that confirms judgeships, with letters and phone calls of opposition, citing cases in which they say Wall placed his drive to win ahead of basic fairness.
