Police in Brockton have responded to an apparent murder near a restaurant on Crescent Street, according to a report.

A man was found early Saturday morning sitting inside of a car in a parking lot behind Joe Angelo’s Cafe suffering from an apparent gunshot wound before he died at an area hospital, reported The Brockton Enterprise.

The victim, Quentin Phillips, a 28-year-old from Mattapan, was taken to the hosital by friends, reported the Associated Press.

A Dumpster near the parking lot in which the car was found was reportedly being searched in an effort to find evidence surrounding the death.

A phone call to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office seeking additional information was not immediately returned.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
