Two brothers killed in Lowell shooting

Two brothers are dead after a shooting early Sunday morning in Lowell, authorities said.

Keith Callahan, 35, and Joseph Callahan, 29, died after being shot on Andrews Street in Lowell, according to a joint statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent William Taylor.

Lowell police received a call requesting medical assistance at 105 Andrews St. shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday and arrived at the address to find the Callahan brothers suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Keith Callahan was dead at the scene, and Joseph Callahan died later after being taken to Lowell General Hospital, authorities said.

No arrests have been made, and Lowell Police are continuing to investigate the shootings in cooperation with State Police assigned to Ryan’s office, authorities said. Autopsies on both men will be performed by the office of the state’s chief medical examiner.


A woman answering the phone at the Callahan family home in Lowell said, “We have absolutely no comment at this time.’’ There was no answer at the phone listed for the residents of 105 Andrews St.
