Man Arrested in Chinatown Shooting That Injured Four

Police have arrested a man in relation to a Chinatown shooting that injured four people early Sunday morning. Melvin Smith, 27, of Mattapan is scheduled to be arraigned Monday for assault with a dangerous weapon. Police said in a statement Sunday that “Smith is known to Boston police officers and has prior firearm convictions on his record.’’

The incident reportedly occurred around 2:55 a.m. in front of Moon Villa Restaurant on Edinboro Street where a firearm was found. The four victims, ages 22-27, were transported to Boston hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
