MBTA Video Captures Boston’s Least Slick Thief Nabbing Phone

–MBTA Transit Police

If you’re gonna steal a cell phone, at least try to be subtle about it.

The MBTA Transit Police are looking for a man who very obviously reached into a T customer service booth and boosted a mobile phone left inside. The theft took place at 12:20 p.m. Friday at Kenmore Station, according to police.

it’s hard to pick any one attribute that makes this thief so special. Maybe it’s his stunning white t-shirt/black clearance-sale shorts outfit. Or sticking his head through the booth’s window like Mr. Ed. Maybe it’s his lazily shuffling through the belongings inside. But our favorite is how he badly palmed the phone rather than dropping it into his au courant tote bag.

At least one fellow traveler was on to him from Jump Street. The bearded man behind him was eyeballing the suspect from the fare gate all the way to the end of the video’s frame. So there’s hope that at least one person can identify this guy.

If you have any information about the incident, you can contact Transit Police at 617-222-1050, text anonymously to 873873 or use the SeeSay app on your phone.
