Massachusetts Transit Police say they arrested a Malden man for allegedly attacking a 53-year-old at the Sullivan Square MBTA station early Wednesday morning. Mohamed Noor, 28, is accused of striking a victim several times in the face after he refused to give Noor money when asked.
Police say Noor knocked the victim to the ground but the man was eventually able to run aboard a nearby MBTA bus. The driver closed the door behind the victim, police say, and Noor continued to bang on the bus door in pursuit.
Officers responded to the scene around 12:15 a.m. and found Noor aboard a different bus at the station. He faces charges of assault with intent to rob and an additional charge for allegedly providing a false name to police.
The victim was treated for his injuries at the scene and brought to a local hospital for further evaluation.
