‘Shark’ Spotted in Duxbury was Likely Another Sunfish

Beaches in Duxbury are open again after a search for a possible shark turned up empty handed, officials said Thursday.

Duxbury harbormaster executive officer Jake Emerson told The Boston Globe that the animal was most likely a sunfish.

Officials reportedly responded after a life guard called in the possible sighting.

This week has seen a series of sightings in Massachusetts: a shark scare in Marshfield yesterday was also likely the fin of a large sunfish, though a great white shark was seen off Duxbury shores earlier this week.
