Another Somerville Cyclist Arrested for Running Red Light, Refusing to Identify Herself

It’s been a little over a month since a cyclist in Somerville was pulled over for running a red light, refused to identify himself, and ended up in cuffs. Apparently that means we were due for another.

Jessica DaSilva, 29, was arrested last week and charged with a bicycle violation, refusing to identify herself, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, according to Somerville Patch.

She allegedly ran a red light at the corner of Bow Street and Somerville Avenue near Union Square on August 27 and when officers asked her to identify herself, she allegedly refused and began to walk away before being placed under arrest.

DaSilva’s arrest comes just over six weeks after 29-year-old Matthew Szklarz allegedly ran a red light near Webster Avenue and Washington Street, was accused of refusing to identify himself, and reportedly told the arresting officer, “You can’t do that.’’
