Police Talking to Feds About Twitter Threats to Arlington Woman

The Arlington Police Department is working with Twitter and federal investigators to determine the source of the social media threats made to an Arlington family on Friday night.

Video game developer Brianna Wu was the subject of several violent threats over Twitter on Friday, apparently because of her “feminist’’ views on women in the video game industry.

On Friday night, tweets from an anonymous account listed Wu’s address and threatened — in graphic detail — to sexually assault and kill her. Wu contacted police and left her home that night, telling Boston.com: “I felt unsafe.’’

“We actively pursue those who threaten the safety or security of our residents,’’ Police Chief Frederick Ryan said in a statement. “We will use all tools and assets at our disposal to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.’’

The threatening Twitter account has been suspended.
