A platform fell at the North Billerica commuter rail station on Friday night, leaving two people injured, MBTA Transit Police told The Lowell Sun. They both sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals.
The collapse happened as passengers were deboarding the Lowell-bound MBTA commuter rail train coming from Boston shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to the Sun.
Billerica police and firefighters, as well as Bedford firefighters and the MBTA Transit Police were on the scene investigating.
Commuter rail service was stopped after the incident and resumed around 11 pm., Billerica police told WCVB-TV.
“It’s unknown how the plaform became damaged,’’ WCVB also reported.
