A 43-Foot Yacht Blocked Traffic in Downtown Boston
A 43-foot-long yacht named Maggie Mae blocked traffic on Summer Street in Downtown Boston Wednesday afternoon.
Yes, you read that right.
The boat was being towed by an 18-wheeler that stopped after getting stuck in a 6-foot snow bank, according to Boston Business Journal.
The boat is owned by Robert A. Vincent, president of the Worcester-based David Clark Company, which, among other things, makes gear for astronauts. It was manufactured by Hinckley Yachts.
The boat was eventually freed after crews dug up snow and towed the truck out.
Phil Bennett, vice president of sales for The Hinckley Company, told Boston.com that the boat in question is a 43-foot ‘Talaria’ that had just been completed.
“She was headed to the New England Boat Show,’’ Bennett explained. “She’ll be on display there.’’
Bennett said there’s a misconception about how New Englanders handle snow.
“People think because we have snow we don’t do anything,’’ he said. “Those of us that live and work here – we’re building and moving boats right through the winter.’’
Hinckley is a yacht manufacturer headquartered in Southwest Harbor, Maine.
