Malia Obama, daughter of a former Somerville resident, may be considering a college future in Boston. According to reports by the Harvard Crimson and the Boston Globe, she was seen Wednesday on the campuses of Harvard and Tufts.
A Harvard Crimson student blogger even snapped a quick selfie with the first daughter — currently a high school junior at Sidwell Friends School in Bethesda, Maryland — in the background.
Both Barack and Michelle Obama went to Harvard Law School. With Harvard’s 30 percent legacy admissions rate, Malia probably has a good shot at getting in (no word though on what the rate is for legacy students who are offspring of sitting world leaders).
The Globe reported Malia was also on Tufts’ Medford campus Wednesday, though her presence “did not cause much of a commotion.’’
Harvard and Tufts aren’t the only schools on Malia’s college tour. According to the Washington Post, she also visited Brown, Yale and Wesleyan University on Tuesday. And on Monday, Malia toured Princeton, where Michelle went for her undergraduate degree and for which the family recently cheered on in the women’s NCAA basketball tournament.
Malia also visited NYU and Columbia in February, as well as UC Berkeley and Stanford last summer.
