Police: Mass. man stabbed roommate, raped woman, and drove both to Ohio

A man stabbed a male relative, raped and assaulted a woman, and forced both to drive with him to Ohio, where he stole a police car and led police on a chase before he was finally captured, police said.

Boxborough police said the suspect, whose name was not released, lived with the man, and that the woman was also in the apartment at the time. After the violence Thursday, he forced both of them into a car, police said.

Three days later and nearly 800 miles away in Ohio, Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies had a standoff with the suspect, police said. He managed to steal a deputy’s car, and led police on a brief chase Sunday morning, police said. He is now being held at the Pike County Jail on charges of theft and escape.

Boxborough police executed a search warrant Sunday morning on the apartment where they say the initial violence occurred.

“This is a deeply disturbing case involving acts of violence that we are still very actively investigating,’’ Boxborough Police Chief Warren Ryder said in a press release. “We greatly appreciate our partnership with our counterparts in Ohio and with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office as this investigation continues.’’

Police said the male victim is currently in stable condition, while the woman’s condition is unknown.
